Respect for intellectual property rights

NovelBeacon is a novel discovery and referral service. We may display bibliographic information, editorial summaries, limited preview material, cover images, and links to third-party reading platforms.Copyright in third-party novels and artwork remains with the applicable author, publisher, licensor, or other rights holder.

We expect material made available through NovelBeacon to be authorized, licensed, lawfully provided, or otherwise permitted by law. We will review properly submitted copyright complaints and may remove or disable access to challenged material.

Before submitting a notice

Confirm that you own the copyright or are authorized to act for the owner. Consider whether the challenged use is licensed, in the public domain, or permitted by an exception such as fair use. If the issue concerns inaccurate metadata, authorship, an expired link, trademark use, or another non-copyright matter, describe that issue in a regular support request instead of making a DMCA declaration.

If the material is hosted by an external reading platform, sending a notice directly to that platform may be the most effective way to address the hosted copy. You may still notify NovelBeacon about the link or listing shown on our service.

What a DMCA takedown notice must contain

A written notice should include substantially all of the following:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Infringed works, or a representative list if one notice covers multiple works.
3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it, preferably including each NovelBeacon URL.
4. Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

Where to send a copyright notice

Verified operator and agent mailing-address and telephone details must be added here before NovelBeacon represents that it has completed a statutory DMCA agent designation. The operator should also register the same agent with the U.S. Copyright Office and renew the designation as required. Until that operational step is completed, the email above remains our public copyright-reporting channel but is not a representation that every DMCA safe-harbor condition has been satisfied.

How we respond

We may acknowledge the notice, request missing information, investigate the identified location, remove or disable access to material, notify the affected content provider, and preserve records reasonably needed to administer the process or comply with law. Removing a NovelBeacon link does not necessarily remove content hosted by a third party.

We may provide the notice—including the claimant’s contact details—to the person or partner responsible for the challenged material, our advisers and service providers, or others when reasonably necessary to process the claim or comply with legal duties.

Counter-notification

If your material was removed or disabled because of mistake or misidentification, you may send a written counter-notification containing substantially the following:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the removed material and the location where itappeared before removal.
3. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
4. Your name, mailing address, and telephone number.
5. A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the applicable U.S. federal district court and accepting service of process from the original claimant or that person’s agent, as required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).

We may forward a valid counter-notification to the original claimant.Where the DMCA applies, removed material may be restored no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after forwarding the counter-notice unless we first receive notice that the claimant has filed a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement.

Repeat-infringer policy

In appropriate circumstances and at our reasonable discretion, we maysuspend or end a contributor’s, partner’s, or user’s ability to provide or make material available through NovelBeacon when that party repeatedly infringes copyright. We may also take action in response to a single serious violation.

Misrepresentations and abuse

Knowingly making material misrepresentations in a takedown notice or counter-notice may create liability under applicable law. Do not submit false claims, use this process to silence criticism, or demand removal of material you do not own. We may reject abusive, fraudulent, duplicative, or facially invalid submissions.

Claims outside the United States

The DMCA is a United States law, but NovelBeacon will also consider clear copyright complaints made under other applicable laws. Identify the relevant right, country, challenged URL, and legal basis. Nothing in this policy limits any rights or remedies available under mandatory local law.
