Chapter 2 of 79Craving the Rejected Omega: One Night with the Alpha King
Available on official platform
ELARA POV:
I woke up tangled in sheets of Egyptian cotton, the morning sun glaring through the floor-to-ceiling windows of a luxury penthouse suite.
My body ached with a deep, heavy soreness, but it wasn't a bad feeling. In fact, a strange, liquid fire hummed beneath my skin. Last night had been a blur of frantic heat and a tenderness I had never known.
But it was more than just physical intimacy. When we were entwined, I felt an inexplicable exchange between us.
Every time he breathed my scent, the tense, violent Alpha energy that usually drove men like him mad seemed to flow into me. I had absorbed his pure, fiery Alpha Essence.
And in return, he had groaned into my neck, whispering that he had never felt so clear, so powerful, so completely at peace.
I rolled over, reaching out. The other side of the bed was empty. The sheets were cold. I sat up, pulling the duvet over my bare chest. On the mahogany nightstand, there was a glass of water, but there was no note from him.
A sharp knock on the suite door made me jump. I wrapped a thick hotel bathrobe tightly around my body and opened the door a crack. A sleazy-looking man in a black suit stood in the hallway, holding a thick paper bag. His face was twisted in a cruel smirk.
"Miss Sterling found out about you," the man sneered. "She wants you gone before the Alpha gets back. Here's your payment for keeping your mouth shut."
My stomach dropped. Inside the bag was a folded dress and a thick stack of hundred-dollar bills. The money hit me like a physical slap to the face.
The warm, foolish hope that had bloomed in my chest withered instantly. Miss Sterling. He had a woman waiting for him. The tenderness he showed me last night was a lie.
And worse, he let his woman’s guard pay me off like a cheap whore. Hot, blinding tears blurred my vision. I didn't take the money. I grabbed the dress, slammed the door, and practically ran out of the suite ten minutes later, leaving the cash scattered on the carpet.
As I hurried through the opulent hotel lobby, keeping my head down, the large flat-screen TV caught my eye. The morning financial news was on. The anchor was talking about a major corporate merger.
But it wasn't the words that stopped me. It was the face on the screen. It was him. The man from last night.
He was wearing a sharp, tailored suit, his jaw clenched, his eyes cold and ruthless. The caption beneath his face read: Damien Carlisle, CEO of The Citadel Group.
My breath hitched. Damien Carlisle. The Alpha King of the most powerful Pack in the North American Territories. The ruthless corporate titan who ruled the city's underworld and upper crust alike.
My knees went weak. I had slept with the Alpha King. But the news segment wasn't over.
The camera panned out, showing a stunning, elegant blonde woman standing beside him. The anchor's voice continued cheerfully, "Carlisle made a rare public appearance today alongside his mate, Meredith Sterling..."
The world tilted on its axis. He had a mate. I was a homewrecker. The profound connection, the way he looked at my scar, the way he poured his essence into me—it was all a temporary escape from his perfect, powerful life.
I burst through the revolving door of the hotel and ran down the sidewalk at full speed. Shame, heartbreak, and my terrifying reality all came crashing down upon me. I couldn't stay in this city.
I walked to the nearest bus terminal and bought a one-way ticket to a remote human town.
I didn't know it then, but the pure Alpha essence I had unwittingly absorbed from him during our intimacy had planted a seed in my weak body. A seed that would change my biology, and my destiny, forever.
