My Ex's Uncle? My Secret Forbidden Affair

About this story

Synopsis

Kathryne went to the St. Regis Hotel to surprise her fiancé, Leo, for his twenty-fifth birthday. She had a Patek Philippe watch in her hand, thinking she was the luckiest woman in the world. But when she pushed open the unlocked door to his suite, she saw him sweating on top of a blonde woman. "You promised you'd break up with that boring Kathryne after your birthday," the woman whined. Kathryne didn't cry. She snapped a photo of their tangled bodies, threatened to leak it to the press, and called off the engagement right there. She thought that was the end of her nightmare. But as she nearly collapsed in the hotel lobby, Leo's uncle, the terrifying and powerful Everett Carlisle, stepped out of the shadows. He chased Leo away, drove her home, and played the perfect, caring elder. He even convinced her strict father that she needed a fresh start, forcing her to sign an ironclad contract to be his personal assistant. Kathryne felt completely trapped. She had just escaped one suffocating relationship only to be handed over to a man who somehow knew everything about her-from her hidden claustrophobia to her secret stash of junk food. She thought she was just taking a demanding job to heal her broken heart. She had no idea that Everett had orchestrated the entire hotel betrayal just to break her engagement. She was running away from a cheating boy, completely unaware that she was walking straight into the meticulously designed cage of a patient predator.
