Chapter 3 of 53The Betrayed Mechanic Is A Secret Boss
Available on official platform
Ashley Kaufman POV:
The clinic's front glass doors were thrown open with a crash, heavy combat boots hitting the vinyl flooring with deliberate weight.
I pushed myself up on the examination table, the wound on my back burning as it tore open, but I kept my spine straight and my eyes locked on the doorway.
A massive silhouette filled the frame, dressed in a black leather Cut bearing the silver skull of the Iron Phantoms across his back.
"Ashley." Kiel walked into the room, his gray-blue eyes sweeping across my pale face and the blood soaking my clothes, the air turning ice-cold in a fraction of a second.
He turned his head toward the door, where his Enforcer, Alfred Montgomery, stood guard. Kiel's voice sounded like steel grinding against stone. "This was your idea of safe? She's bleeding."
Alfred, a giant with a scarred jaw, lowered his head immediately. "Prez. My mistake. I'll clear the block."
"Don't blame him," I said, my voice steady. "I did it myself on a metal rack."
Kiel's eyes snapped back to me. He crossed the room in two strides, reached down with rough, calloused hands, and lifted me effortlessly into his arms, carefully avoiding my torn back.
The heavy scent of rich tobacco, rain, and motor oil wrapped around me. His chest felt like solid iron, radiating steady heat.
"You don't walk on your own from now on," he murmured, his voice low and dangerous as he pulled me closer. "Close your eyes. I'm taking you home."
I didn't fight him. I rested my head against his shoulder as he carried me through the clinic lobby, where a dozen patched Iron Phantoms stood in a silent perimeter, cutting off every angle of sight.
Just as we stepped out into the rain, my old phone buzzed violently in my pocket. I fished it out, the screen lighting up with a bank notification.
"All joint Frontline Speed accounts under your name have been frozen. Available balance: $0.00."
Colin had moved fast, trying to strangle me financially before the storm even cleared.
Kiel glanced down at the screen, his jaw tightening into a hard line as a brutal edge surfaced in his eyes.
"Alfred," Kiel barked without looking back. "Before sunrise, turn Frontline's two east-side garages into gravel."
"No." I gripped the collar of his leather Cut. "They belong to me. I'm going to skin them myself."
Kiel stared down at me, the tension in his eyes shifting into something dark and amused. "Whatever you want, Old Lady."
He set me gently into the back seat of an armored black SUV, climbing in right behind me before the heavy door slammed shut against the rain.
As the convoy pulled out, I reached up to my neck, unhooking a chain that held two silver rings stamped with the Frontline logo—rings I had hand-cast when I first joined the garage three years ago.
"Give me your terminal," I said to Kiel, my voice completely flat. "I'm pawning these pieces of junk on the underground exchange, and then I'm filing for state arbitration."
Kiel looked at the silver rings with open disdain, then dropped a heavy military-grade tablet into my lap.
I logged into the black market network, listed the silver rings for scrap value, and pulled up the California arbitration portal, hitting the final button to dissolve all Frontline technical rights.
The SUV turned into a heavily fortified industrial zone, where massive iron gates parted to reveal the fortress-like Clubhouse of the Iron Phantoms.
Spotlights swept the gravel yard, lined with rows of customized Harleys, while several prospects in plain vests patrolled the perimeter in the rain.
The car stopped, and Kiel scooped me up again, carrying me straight through the loud, smoky bar on the ground floor. The heavy rock music cut out the instant he pushed through the double doors.
Dozens of patched outlaws froze, setting down their beers and pool cues, staring in shock as their President walked in carrying a woman.
"Keep your eyes down." Kiel's voice cut through the silence like a blade. "She runs this house now. Anyone looks at her sideways, you answer to me."
The room stayed dead quiet for two seconds before a unified roar shook the rafters. "Yes, Prez!"
Kiel carried me past the crowd and up the stairs to a heavy steel door on the second floor. When he pushed it open, I saw a private suite equipped with high-end medical gear and a full wall of humming, encrypted servers.
