SIENNA
She had played it cool, lounging back as if she had not noticed the raw hunger in their eyes, but her pulse was beating like a hammer against her ribs.
Both twins crossed the sun-warmed flagstones and dropped onto the edges of her lounger. Logan settled on her left, his bare thigh inches from hers, while Mason took her right, broad shoulders brushing her arm. The scent of them hit her instantly, clean soap, cedar, and warm skin.
"You look different, Pearl," Mason said, his voice dropping an octave.
"You're still using that dumb nickname?"
They did not answer.
"A lot different," Logan murmured, his amber eyes tracing the curve of her collarbone down to the swell of her chest. "I didn't think you'd be so...grown up."
"I wasn't going to stay twelve forever, Logan," she shot back, holding his stare.
"Clearly," he said softly.
Mason glanced down at her waist, then quickly looked away toward the water, his jaw set tight. "Definitely not the scrawny kid who used to steal our gym towels."
She arched a brow, a slow, teasing smile curling her mouth. "Is that a complaint?"
Both brothers locked eyes with her, their expressions dark and completely serious.
"Not even close," Logan whispered.
"The way you two look at me hasn't stayed the same either," she murmured, leaning back into the cushion.
Logan let out a quiet, rough laugh, though a warning flared in his gaze. "If Callum or Rowan walked out here and saw how we're looking at you..."
Mason rolled his shoulders back, forcing his eyes toward the far fence. "We'd be buried in the backyard."
The patio door clicked open, and the heavy thud of footsteps broke the spell.
In a heartbeat, both twins pushed off the lounger, their faces snapping back into easy, careless grins before Callum and Rowan even cleared the threshold.
The afternoon descended into pure chaos. The four boys turned the pool into their own private arena, wrestling, racing, and throwing each other into the deep end until the whole yard echoed with shouting and laughter.
Sienna drifted on a bright yellow inflatable raft, her dark sunglasses hiding the fact that she was watching every move Mason and Logan made. The sun gleamed against the wet ridges of their backs, highlighting every corded muscle as they moved.
A sudden splash broke the surface, and before she could brace herself, Logan surged up from underneath the float, tipping it sideways. Sienna let out a sharp shriek as she tumbled into the cool water.
She broke the surface gasping, only for Mason's strong hands to lock around her waist. He lifted her clear out of the water like she weighed nothing, his fingers biting gently into her ribs.
"Still scared of going under, Pearl?" Mason teased, holding her suspended before dropping her back with a tremendous splash.
"Hardly," she sputtered, coughing and wiping wet hair from her eyes.
It felt wild to remember how terrified of the ocean she had been when they were kids. After her parents had begun disappearing on long overseas trips, night terrors about drowning had kept her awake for months. Callum and Rowan had tried their best, but it had been the twins who spent entire summer afternoons in this very pool, patiently holding her afloat, showing her how to kick, and teaching her to trust the water.
Shaking the old memories away, she dove deep, cutting through the blue water until she reached the shallow steps, relishing the chill against her overheated skin.
Later, the five of them perched around the pool's edge, passing around cold sodas and bowls of chips. Rowan leaned back on his elbows, a wicked smirk on his face as he looked across at Mason and Logan.
"So, that girl at the marina pub last night," Rowan prodded, nudging Logan with his heel. "Did she get the double treatment, or what?"
Logan choked on his soda, coughing into his arm, while Mason's jaw tightened, color rising along his neck.
Callum raised an eyebrow. "What's with the blushing? Usually, you two are boasting about your conquests."
Logan shrugged, keeping his eyes glued to the tile between his feet. "It just happened. She was into it."
Mason nodded once, stiffly. "We didn't plan anything. It was just a mutual thing in the moment."
Sienna froze, her soda can hovering halfway to her mouth. The reality of it hit her like a punch to the stomach. "Wait. You were both with her? At the exact same time?"
Both twins offered reluctant, sheepish nods.
Curiosity burned right through her embarrassment. "So how does that even work? Do you flip a coin? Make a schedule? Did she ask for both of you, or did you offer?"
Every set of eyes at the edge of the pool snapped straight to her. Four massive men stared in absolute silence, completely shocked.
Heat roared up Sienna's throat until her entire face burned.
Rowan let out a deafening bark of laughter. "Look at our little sister asking the technical questions!"
Callum grinned, clapping her on the shoulder. "Curious, are we, Mads? Guess that's what happens when you've never had a real sex life."
Sienna shoved Callum's hand off, her face blazing scarlet. "Shut up! Both of you!"
She dropped her soda, scrambled to her feet, and bolted into the house without looking back, slamming her bedroom door shut behind her.
Sienna pressed the palms of her hands against her eyes, breathing heavily against the wood of her bedroom door.
Her mind was spinning. She could not erase the image of the mystery woman pressed between them, nor could she silence the filthy, traitorous voice in her head asking why she could not be the one in the middle.
She grabbed a book from her nightstand, kicking off her flip-flops, and curled up in the center of her bed. The words on the page were an incomprehensible blur.
The latch clicked softly.
Mason stepped inside, followed immediately by Logan. They moved with quiet, feline confidence, crossing the floor and sitting on the edge of her mattress.
"Looking cozy, Pearl," Mason said quietly.
"What are you two doing in here?" she asked, clutching the blanket to her chest.
"Can we nap with you?" Logan reached out, his warm fingers brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
Sienna swallowed hard, looking toward the open hallway. "Where are my brothers?"
"They took off for the south gym," Mason explained, stretching his long frame out beside her on the mattress. "Equipment delivery arrived early. We're beat from the drive and the pool. Thought we could rest here."
Logan leaned down, his hazel-amber eyes softening. "You don't mind, do you?"
With his hair damp and ruffled from the pool, he looked disarmingly gentle. Her hand betrayed her, moving on its own to tangle softly in the curls at the nape of his neck.
"What about your friend from last night?" she asked, unable to keep the edge out of her tone. "Won't she be upset you're cuddling with someone else?"
"She doesn't know," Logan murmured, sliding onto his side. "And she wouldn't care if she did."
"I don't need any drama," Sienna muttered.
Mason shifted closer until his chest pressed against her shoulder. His warm breath tickled her neck, sending a shiver directly to her core. "Forget about her, Sienna. We just want to cuddle you. Like old times."
When she was a little girl and the nightmares had terrorized her sleep, her brothers had done everything they could, but it had often been the twins who stayed in her room, sandwiching her between their broad shoulders until morning light chased the shadows away. It had been pure and safe back then.
Now, it felt like standing in front of an open flame.
"We'll keep the bad dreams away, Pearl," Logan whispered, leaning in to press a light kiss against her temple.
Mason's rough fingertips began tracing slow, invisible patterns along her bare arm, sending static shocks along her skin.
"What do you say, Mads?" Mason asked, his dark green eyes locked onto hers with unbearable focus. "Is this okay?"
Her heart hammered against her ribs. The heat rolling off their bodies was intoxicating. She wanted to say yes, but she knew deep down that if she opened this door, there would be no turning back.
